Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) stalwart and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that he climbed the PM Secretariat’s wall in 2014 to dodge the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s dharna participants, who were misbehaving with the then federal ministers and high government officials.

The former premier, while giving an interview to journalist Nadeem Malik on his show, said that it was very obvious that PTI was not the architect of 2014 dharna [protest]. “I don’t want to name anyone, but it seemed like that establishment was not ‘happy’ with our government. Nobody told me but it is my personal observation that former DG ISI Zaheer-ul-Islam was behind the organisation of PTI’s dharna,” the former premier said.

The PML-N leader said that he himself witnessed from the window of PM’s Secretariat that some men in civil apparel came and dispersed the police officials. “I along with my secretary climbed a wall of 10 ft to escape the scene, as some participants – who were nominated in-charge by those civil men – were misbehaving with the ministers and government officials,” he added.
