A three-member bench led by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa asked the government to submit a written undertaking that the parliament would legislate on the matter within six months. The court has also asked for an amended notification that would eliminate mention of the Supreme Court, the duration of the tenure, and the description of army chief's salary and incentives.
CJ Asif Khosa has warned that if legislation was not carried out within six months, the appointment would become illegal.
Moreover, the top judge of the apex court told Attorney General of Pakistan Anwar Mansoor Khan during the hearing, "Put your house in order."
