The Armed forces have removed the "Christian only" clause in recent sanitary job openings. It was a few days ago when a sanitary job opening newspaper advertisement made rounds on social media. The ad in question had a "Christian only" clause for all those applying for sanitary jobs. The advertisement belonged to the Mujahid Force of Pakistan Army.

As soon as the newspaper image of the advertisement went viral, various social media activists and Christian groups started demanding the removal of the clause.

Salman Sufi, a public policy and development specialist went on to Twitter appreciating the removal of the clause by the Armed Forces.

"Great news. Thanks to @OfficiaDGISPR for removing the "Christian only" clause in call for application for Sanitary workers paving way to ensure Christian Pakistanis are not labeled as just for sanitary jobs", Sufi said on Twitter.

"Heartening our request was accepted and the clerical mistake was fixed", Sufi added.

Members of the Christian community have been working as sanitary workers for years and various public sector departments often add such clauses in job openings.

The practice has been widely condemned in the past and relevant departments have been asked to refrain from doing so.
