Pashteen noted that the Afghan war needs to be discussed because international and regional powers turned Afghanistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa into a battlefield to further their ulterior motives and vested interests. "Some elements question our relationship with Afghanistan. We have blood relation with Afghanistan and whenever war had been imposed on Afghanistan, the war monger along with Afghanistan also destroyed KP," he said.
He further said that the conflict between the British and Russia divided the Pakhtun geographically as well as administratively. The USA – Soviet conflict destroyed the land of Afghanistan and Pakhtunkhwa. This is why this gathering is against hate war and conflict, he explained.
Once again the war mongers are preparing for a new phase of war in Afghanistan and Pakhtunkhwa, and like the past, we cannot expect any good policies and decision from the power that be, Pashteen lamented.
Regarding Afghanistan's issue, Pashteen said that the solution lies only in respecting the vote of Afghanistan citizens and democracy. Pashteen regretted that on the one hand Maulana Fazal says that he and the Ulema have consensus on democratic system in Pakistan but unfortunately, in Afghanistan he is sympathetic to the Taliban system. "President Ashraf Ghani is also fighting for democracy in his country," Pashteen said. He also said that it was ironic that the Maulana also congratulated the Communist Party of China, the same communism they were fighting in the Soviet era.
Further, Pashteen urged the Pakistan media to play its positive role for peace in the region. Apart from other PTM leaders, the gathering was addressed by Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader Farhatullah Babar and MNA Mohsin Dawar.
While responding to the criticism by the speakers regarding the role of PPP’s Sindh government in incarcerated MNA Ali Wazir's case, Babar said that it was now an open secret that such cases like Ali Wazir and PTM's are beyond the jurisdiction of the civilians. "However, I will do my level best to ensure that he is provided treatment facilities," Babar assured the gathering.
