Aasia Bibi spent eight years in jail over blasphemy allegations which were later proven to be false. The Supreme Court had absolved her of blasphemy charges last year, but she was kept in protective custody for six months due to pressure of religious extremists before finally leaving for Canada where she is presently staying.
