Also, the activists have not taken lightly the statement made by Federal Minister Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry where he questioned the credentials of Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid for endorsing medical reports of ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
As controversy on the government's approval to send Nawaz abroad for medical treatment revived, the federal minister demanded that Yasmin Rashid should also be investigated as she may have wrongly proposed sending the former PM abroad.
“Dr Yasmin Rashid is a gynecologist, I do not think Nawaz Sharif had any problem that the gynecologist has a solution. Therefore, Yasmeen Rashid should also be investigated,” he said in a TV show Aj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath. He had said it seemed that the medical reports, on the basis of which Nawaz Sharif was allowed to go abroad, were not genuine.
However, activists called out Fawad for biased commentary, targetting his colleague unfairly.
Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry has a knack for commenting on every issue under the sky. Even though Fawad was removed as the information minister over a year ago, he still acts as if he is the official spokesperson of the government.
Furthermore, in Pakistan, women politicians are often undermined by their opponents and colleagues due to rampant sexism. For instance, in the case of Nawaz Sharif, Yasmin Rashid is being singled out even though she's a doctor and is perfectly capable of giving an informed opinion on the issue.
