According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations, the Indian troops engaged in deliberate targeting of the civilian population, and along with the two deaths, the firing also resulted in injuries to three people and damage to as many houses.
According to the statement, the martyred have been identified as Abdul Jalil, aged 45, and three-year-old Nausheen.
Meanwhile, those injured in the firing have been shifted to a hospital.
The month of August has seen an increase in ceasefire violations by Indian forces. Part of the reason are the increased tensions between the South Asian arch-rivals that have resulted from the revocation of Article 370 in Kashmir by India.
Indian forces pay no heed to who they are targeting. Last week, a seven-year-old boy was also killed due to firing from the Indian side across the Line of Control.
