51 Karachi Police Officials Contracted Coronavirus In Line Of Duty

As many as 51 officials of Karachi police have contracted the deadly coronavirus while performing their duties to ensure effective lockdown throughout the city.

Journalist Omar Quarishi took posted the coronavirus update on Twitter and said that 51 police officials of the provincial capital have tested positive for the fatal coronavirus. “A sub-inspector and a head constable were infected with the coronavirus while performing their duty at a cash distribution of the Ehsaas Programme at Government Degree College in Karachi,” he added.

In another tweet, the journalist said that only in Karachi, 3,500 confirmed coronavirus cases have been reported to date.

The deadly coronavirus has claimed 294 lives in Pakistan, while 3,233 patients have recovered successfully and have discharged from the hospitals.

The national tally of coronavirus confirmed cases has risen to 13,965, with the provincial governments of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan confirming 5,526, 4,956, 1,984, 853 cases respectively. Meanwhile, 320 cases in Gilgit-Baltistan, 261 in Islamabad, and 65 in Kashmir have reported to date.
