Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has offered Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan to sit down and talk if he has any issues, but this is just an ‘eyewash’ as neither the government nor the PTI are willing to hold negotiations, said senior analyst Muzamal Suharwardy.

While speaking at a program on Naya Daur TV, Suharwardy said that currently there is no chance of negotiations between the PTI and the ruling alliance, adding that the PTI leadership knows Imran Khan will not allow them to negotiate.

While responding to a question about PTI Jirga over Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, the analyst said that Jirga has not rejected the operation; in fact, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur organized Jirga to pave the way for the army to launch an operation. He said that the jirga demands the removal of obstacles in trade with Afghanistan, which means they want the state to allow smuggling.

The analyst further said that the PTI leaders are expressing joy that the US House of Representatives has passed a resolution expressing robust support for democracy in Pakistan by an overwhelming 368–7 vote. He said that this development will bring no relief for Imran Khan and his party, and those accused of the May 9 riots will remain imprisoned.

Suharwardy said that, in the past, the PTI accused the United States of conspiracy and interference through Cipher, and now the party leadership is lauding the US interference.
