GC University Teacher Accused Of Sexual Harassment, Admin Announces Inquiry

The vice-chancellor of Government College University, Lahore, has ordered an investigation against a teacher of the physics department who was accused of sexual harassment by his female students.

A member of the Old Ravian Facebook group had posted screenshots and pictures of the teacher, who is a member the GCU Physics Department, and alleged quoting a student that she and her friends were repeatedly failed by the teacher in examinations and were also sexually harassed by him.

The post, shared by a friend of the girls who were allegedly harassed, claimed that the teacher compelled the students to attend his video calls. However, on Saturday when the teacher called, one of the students took screenshots to expose him, it said, adding that the teacher appeared 'drunk' and 'shirtless' in some screenshots.

Meanwhile, GC vice chancellor Prof Zaidi also received complaints about a faculty member of the university making inappropriate calls and messages to a female student and ordered an inquiry into the matter. For the purpose, he constituted a committee that also included a woman member.

He said that as a matter of principle harassment would not be tolerated at the GCU.
