Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporter Khadijah Shah was aware of the plan regarding the attack on the Lahore Corps Commander's house, and she uploaded a post on her social media account at 3 pm in which she incited the party workers to reach there and attack the residence.
While speaking at a program on Naya Daur TV, senior analyst Muzamal Suharwardy said that there is a difference between former PTI leader Andleeb Abbas and Khadijah Shah’s roles in the May 9 riots. As per investigation findings, Andleeb didn’t enter the premises of the Corps Commander's house, whereas Khadijah provoked the party workers to attack military installations, he added.
The analyst said that Khadijah also uploaded posts on her social media account in which she tagged the United States embassy and others, demanding the removal of the army chief.
She said that Khadijah also used the influence of the US ambassador for her release, but the army gave a clear message to the US envoy that no relief would be provided to those involved in the May 9 riots.
Suharwardy said that, on the other hand, Andleeb was not found involved in the attack on the Corps Commander's house, due to which she got forgiveness and joined the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP).
He said that the PTI’s plan was to attack military installations in a bid to create a law and order situation in the country that would compel the chief justice to take suo moto, which would result in the removal of the army chief.
While responding to a question regarding the PTI’s failure to establish an alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Suharwardy said that the JI asked the PTI to join them in their rallies against Israel, but the PTI refused to join due to pressure from overseas PTI leaders, as they didn’t want their party leadership to speak against Israel in rallies.
To another question, the analyst said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan is enjoying watching old movies on Netflix in jail.
