SSP Shikarpur Accuses PPP Minister Of Hurling Death Threats

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shikarpur Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, has written a letter to Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh Dr. Kaleem Imam, informing that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh had threatened him, his family members’ and his subordinate police officers.

According to a news report published in The News, SSP Dr. Rizwan, in his detailed letter, blamed Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed and some senior Sindh ruling party leaders for hurling life threats. Furthermore, Rizwan warned Imam that due to alleged patronizing of criminals by political leaders, district Shikarpur may witness a serious breakdown of law and order.

SSP also accused the energy minister of being allegedly involved in highway robberies, kidnappings for ransom and killing of more than 70 including 13 police officers.

Provincial Minister Imtiaz Sheikh, while talking to the news outlet refuted these charges, saying that he had never threatened the SSP. He blamed the police officer of conspiring against him and his companions due to his alleged connections with a local rival group.

SSP Rizwan’s letter to IGP Sindh have surfaced at a time when Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah and PPP's top provincial leadership are engaged in a tussle with IGP Dr. Kaleem Imam and some of the Police officers including SSP Dr. Rizwan.
