The caretaker government of Punjab has played a masterstroke by suspending the sentence of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in the Al-Azizia reference, due to which now there is a zero chance that Nawaz will face imprisonment.

While speaking at a program on Naya Daur TV, senior analyst Muzamal Suharwardy said that Nawaz Sharif is no longer dependent on the judiciary after the suspension of his sentence by the Punjab interim government, but he will prefer acquittal from the court.

He said that Nawaz returned to the country to become prime minister and not to get imprisoned in jail, adding that no judge can send the PML-N supremo to jail as the caretaker government of Punjab has played a 'masterstroke.’

Suharwardy reiterated that there is not a single hurdle in the way of Nawaz Sharif.

While responding to a question regarding the Supreme Court verdict that declared civilians’ trial in military court unconstitutional, the analyst said that the government would file a plea against the verdict. The army will never step back from conducting trials of the May 9 accused in military courts.
