On Tuesday, Emirates had announced the temporary suspension of all the passenger services from the country, after several Pakistani passengers who had travelled to Hong Kong tested positive for the fatal coronavirus.
A day after the announcement of Emirates, Fly Dubai and Etihad Airways also suspended their flight operations from Pakistan, citing the deadly coronavirus situation in the country. However, both Etihad Airways and Emirates decided to continue their cargo services in the country.
Emirates had also issued a press statement in the regard, saying: “We regret to temporarily suspend passenger services from Pakistan, from 24 June 04:00 Pakistan LT, until early next week. In the meantime, Emirates will continue to operate repatriation flights into Pakistan as per the announced schedule. The airline will remain in contact with the relevant authorities of Pakistan on requirements to resume services for travelers.”
Earlier, Hong Kong’s Centre for Health Protection had said that at least 29 coronavirus cases of Pakistani residents were reported in the country who had used the services of Emirates.
