Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Khan Tareen has admitted that allegations about member of the ruling party involved in the sugar price hike in the country brought Prime Minister Imran Khan 'under a lot of pressure'.

While talking to Dawn News TV, he said that some people were insistent that the sugar price hike is because of him and some other party members and that they were avoiding an inquiry. He said that the formation of a three-member committee to hold probe into the crisis is a welcome step because it will reveal the truth.

"They should go to the farmer to ask them how much money they are getting," the PTI leader further said.

Jahangir Tareen also denied reports that he or other sugar mill owners hoarded the commodity resulting in price hikes across the country, adding that sugar mill owners do not have the money to hoard sugar. He further said that the committee set up by the PM will look at the facts and decide what led to the sugar crisis.
