Kiran will now be able to use OLY with her name for serving Pakistan swimming in multiple Olympics. OLY (Olympian) are post-nominal letters granted to athletes who have participated in the OlympicGames.
Kiran received Pakistan’s civilian honor of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 2012. The swimmer has 327 national gold medals to her name, while she has also received 42 medals in competitions around the world.
In 2008, Kiran was awarded the Pakistan Youth Icon, while in 2009, She was awarded the Benazir Excellence Award.
Taking to Twitter upon achieving the award, Kiran said that she was extremely grateful for being recognized and thanked friends, family, and coaches for their continuous support.
"Need to frame this big forever to look at that I have achieved some bit in my life, thank you to my family and friends my coaches my country for the love and support. I have been a motivational speaker a mentor and coached trained 100s of girls all across Pakistan."
“One should try to achieve something in life every day. I am thankful to all the people who were involved in helping me get this recognition,” she added.
