Tareen said this while speaking to journalist Kamran Khan on Dunya TV's talk-show. Speaking about the cabinet reshuffle, Tareen said that one only knows how someone performs when they are handed the task. "Some players play well in the nets, but fail to perform in the matches."
"Khan should be praised for his action. He has changed players who weren't working. This isn't a team that can't change. Those who perform stay, those who don't fall behind."
Tareen said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has a close view of everything that's happening in offices and anytime he feels someone is not performing up to the mark, he/she will be replaced.
Tareen said that the economic situation was not what PTI expected it to be, but with new faces in offices, things are expected to be better. "Hafeez Sheikh is an experienced man and we need experience to handle the economy. Similarly, Reza Baqir and Shabbar Zaidi are also experienced, but out-of-the-box solutions."
Over his involvement in political matters, Tareen said that there was no barrier over his political involvement. "There is no legal barrier to me working with the government. I am a political worker. I can work in politics, I can become a member of a committee, but I can't hold a post. If I can contribute to my country, I will."
The journalist posed a question about the reported tension between Tareen and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, to which Tareen said: "There have been efforts to sort this out. You are right, there should be no division in the party at this point. But there are also people who are united."
