In 2018, a mob had attacked an Ahmadi worship place in Sialkot, severely vandalising it. Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry had at the time denied claims that one of the mob leaders, Hamid Raza, was linked with the ruling PTI. Despite evidence that Raza had been associated with the PTI and was welcomed into the party, the PTI had chosen to distance itself from him at the time of the attack in 2018.

However, Hamid Raza is now a candidate for the ruling party in the AJK elections from the LA36 Jammu 3 constituency and has been actively campaigning.
