Anwar Aziz; Father Of PML(N) Leader Daniyal Aziz Laid To Rest
Senior politician Anwar Aziz Chaudhry passed away at the age of 89 after a brief illness in Lahore the other day. His funeral prayers were offered today in Shakargarh, a Tehsil of Narowal amid a large gathering of locals. His daughter-in-law Mehnaz Akber Aziz, who is an MNA, has expressed her loss in a tweet.

In his past, Anwar Aziz Chaudhry was a professional swimmer and proudly represented Pakistan at the Summer Olympics in 1948. Anwar Aziz, thrice elected to the National Assembly, was the father of PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz and father-in-law of PML(N) MNA Mehnaz Akbar.

He held various portfolios during his lifetime. He served as federal minister for railways and law in 1990 and headed the federal ministry for defense as well. The deceased was also the home minister of Punjab. He began active participation in politics in 1963. In 1973, he became a close associate of the then prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and was made a federal minister in his cabinet.
