In a press conference on Saturday, he also said that the state is above any religious faction of the society and they should stop trying to accommodate religious groups that deny technology in times like these.
He was referring to the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee that is set to meet today to sight the moon but it is expected that they will declare Eid on Monday.
Chaudhry was also against the moon sighting committee when the moon for the month of Ramzan had to be sighted. He had said that gatherings of people were not safe and also against the lockdown measures to prevent coronavirus.
He said regarding the issue of Eid, that the State’s law, Constitution and knowledge should take precedence over factions. Seeing the moon is no longer an issue, said Chaudhry, adding that in a few years people will be celebrating Eid on the moon.
He also added that Islam is an evolving religion and always encourages knowledge, so depending on the science and technology for declaring the end of Ramzan shouldn’t be an issue.
He briefed the media on the criteria his department has set to determine the position of the moon and spoke about the app they released.
