PML-N leader Talal Chaudhry caused an uproar over sexist remarks against PTI leader Firdous Ashiq Awan. Talal said that Firdous appeared more like a ‘man’ than a woman ‘If FirdousBaji washes her face, you’ll see the true person behind all that makeup’The insult prompted an uproar on social media. Tallal later apologised saying that he did not intend to hurt anyone’s feelings. But this is not the first time a politician has stooped low

Recently, PM Khan went over the line with his political point-scoring and termed Bilawal Bhutto a ‘Sahiba’. In past, PML-N leader Khawaja Asif called Shireen Mazari ‘a tractor-trolley’ during a speech in National Assembly. He also called Firdous Ashiq Awan a ‘dumper’ when she joined PTI.

Ex-President Pervaiz Musharraf asked Bilawal Bhutto to‘act like a man first’ and Fayyazul Hassan Chohan said that he would turn actress Nargis into ‘Haji Nargis’..These are few of the many instances of blatant sexism and misogyny among our politicians. It’s good that Tallal Chaudhry has apologised, but the more important thing is to learn and act responsibly.

Let’s not throw morality out of the window in this political tug of war
