While presiding over a meeting of the Central Apex Committee, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed chief ministers of all provinces to properly utilize the funds allocated for maintaining law and order and to ensure peace and stability.
Speaking at a program on Naya Daur TV, senior analyst Muzamal Suarwardy said that during the meeting, decisions were made to take strict action against Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) for its involvement in lynching incidents across the country. During the meeting, it was also decided to enhance the security of Chinese nationals.
The analyst said that Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TLP), an outlawed outfit, tried to enter Pakistan through the Pakistan-Afghan border, but the Pakistan Army foiled their attempt.
While responding to a question about Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Omar Ayub’s statement, Suharwardy said the PTI leader stated that attacks on Chinese nationals are a failure of intelligence agencies. He said that PML-N’s Ahasan Iqbal responded that five out of six attacks on Chinese nationals occurred during the PTI government when their most favorite, Faiz Hameed, was chief of the premier intelligence agency.
To another question, Suharwardy said that PTI Central Information Secretary Raoof Hasan has once again criticized Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa. He said that Justice Athar Minallah instantly issued contempt notices to Faisal Vawda and Mustafa Kamal over their press conference. "Why do Supreme Court judges remain silent when PTI targets CJP Isa in their press conferences?” he questioned.
He stated that a political party cannot be allowed to insult the chief justice, adding that the Supreme Court should issue contempt notices to PTI leaders.
While talking about the reserve seats case, Suharwardy said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has submitted its response to the Supreme Court. He said that, as per the constitution of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), no non-Muslim can become a member of the party. But the SIC is demanding reserved seats for minorities.
The analyst said that it is also against the constitution of Pakistan to form a political party in which non-Muslims cannot become members.
