She said, “Such actions are in violation of our Constitution & our international obligations under HR conventions Pakistan ratified. Citizens cannot live in a constant state of fear and due legal process is the right of all citizens in any democracy.”

Meanwhile, Matiullah Jan has thanked fellow journalists, press freedom watchdogs, judiciary, and human rights activists for raising their voice and making his recovery possible. He was recovered 12 hours after his abduction from an area near Fateh Jang later on Tuesday night. Senior journalists had confirmed the development.

Earlier on Tuesday, Jan was abducted outside a school in Islamabad where he had come to drop his wife. A footage showed Jan being shoved into a car by armed men wearing police uniforms. On July 15, he was issued a contempt of court notice by the Supreme Court after he posted a tweet regarding the ongoing case involving Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
