Indian politician and ex-cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu has been barred from entering Mumbai’s Film City for his comments regarding Pakistan over the Pulwama Attack.

Refusing to be part of the anti-Pakistan propaganda, Sidhu had said that an entire nation could not be blamed for actions of a few ‘terrorists’. This has got him removed from the Kapil Sharma show, where he was a leading figure. Sidhu has also been called ‘anti-national’ by extremist groups within the neighbouring country.

But it seems like the anti-Sidhu campaign has not settled yet. Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has banned the politician from entering Mumbai’s famed Film City. FWICE chief BN Tiwari says that ‘country comes first’.

“We would not spare anyone who says a word against our country and that is why we have banned Sidhu from entering the film city,” he said. It was also said that any member belonging to the federation will boycott projects Sidhu is part of.

Co-star Kapil Sharma, who came to Sidhu’s defence, was also called a ‘traitor’ and slammed, while India has also placed a ban on Pakistani film-stars and artists from performing in the country.

Earlier this week, Sidhu had said that he will not backtrack from his comments over the Pulwama Attack and Pakistan. “I don’t know about that (being removed from the Kapil Sharma show), but I have said it in the past, I will say it today and tomorrow too (that an entire nation cannot be blamed for acts of terrorists).”

Sidhu also said that he could not be available for two episodes of the Kapil Sharma show due to personal reasons and the channel invited Archana Puran Singh in his place. He has not received any message of suspension/removal from the channel.

Tensions between the two countries are on the rise in the wake of Pulwama Attack, in which 44 Indian soldiers were killed when a van packed with explosives rammed into a convoy in occupied-Kashmir.
