The workers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) called out the alleged corruption of the Pakistan Army officials, especially retire general Asim Saleem Bajwa, in a protest in London where they held holding pizza boxes of Papa John's following the speech of Nawaz Sharif in the all-parties conference.

In his address to the All Parties Conference (APC), Nawaz was muted by TV channels broadcasting his speech when he mentioned Asim Bajwa, who is also the CPEC Authority Chairman.

According to Nawaz, Bajwa was involved in a conspiracy to topple the Balochistan government of PML-N in 2018. The PML-N supreme leader also spoke about the allegations of corruption levelled against Asim Bajwa in an investigative story and said that he must go to court if the charges are false.

PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz also said that Nawaz was censored when he addressed the charges against the CPEC Authority chairman and former DG ISPR.

APC address:

The former PM also said that it was necessary to protect democracy. He said that he agreed with Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s position that the APC needs to be meaningful otherwise the people would be disappointed.

Nawaz said that dishonouring the vote leads to failure of the democratic system which is rendered meaningless. “Public’s mandate is stolen and they are betrayed when it is decided before the polls that he would win or lose,” he said.

Nawaz Sharif, in his address, also reminded the attendees of the APC of former PM Yousaf Raza Gilani’s old statement that there was a ‘state within a state’ in Pakistan. Nawaz said that it was sad that the situation has now turned into a point where a state is above the state. He added that this ‘parallel government illness’ is the root cause of all of Pakistan’s problems.

‘Martial law enforced in Pakistan’

Nawaz Sharif said that a ‘martial law’ had been enforced by the government and criminals are free to make amendments to the constitution. He added, “Our struggle is not against Imran Khan, but against those who installed him and brought an incompetent man like him into power after manipulating the elections.”

Nawaz Sharif also thanked PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari for organising the APC as well as former president Zardari. Nawaz added that even though he was abroad, he was aware of the ‘conditions’ Pakistan and the people are in. ”

Pakistan Democratic Movement:

Following the APC, the opposition leaders announced the formation of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) in a bid to oust the government. They also demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

They announced that the opposition parties would launch a three-phased anti-government movement from next month, with countrywide public meetings, protest demonstrations and rallies in December, and a 'decisive' long march towards Islamabad in January 2021.
