Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday held a meeting with the top brass of Sindh police and told the officials that the provincial government stood with its police 'in their difficult time'. The chief minister also assured the police officials that the government would not let them be demoralised.

Addressing the meeting, Murad Ali Shah spoke about the efforts by the Sindh government to restore peace in the province and said that the police have given huge sacrifices for this purpose.

The meeting was attended by Sindh IG Police Mushtaq Mahar, additional inspectors general and deputy inspectors general. Earlier on Tuesday, Sindh police officials had submitted leave applications en masse to protest 'humiliation' and 'mistreatment' of the high command of the police. The IG police's house was allegedly sieged by security establishment.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had confirmed that the IG was forced to issue orders for PML-N leader Captain (r) Safdar's arrest. COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa then took notice of the 'Karachi incident' and an ISPR press release stated that the COAS had ordered an 'immediate inquiry' into the matter.
