The 32-year-old was asleep in her courtyard with her two children when two unidentified assailants broke into her home, held her hostage and sexually assaulted her. They also threw acid on her before fleeing.
The woman was admitted to Fatehpur THQ Hospital where she was said to be stable. The victim's husband resides in Karachi for work-related purposes.
Investigation Officer ASI Muhammad Saleem told this correspondent that police collected fingerprints from the crime scene and would hopefully arrest the suspects soon.
Police on Tuesday arrested the prime suspect accused with 2 others of using doctored images to blackmail a girl, who died by suicide because the three made her life ‘miserable’. An 18-year-old girl in Badin, Anila Parmar, took her own life by ingesting poison on Sunday.
In a suicide note, she wrote names of her alleged blackmailers. “I want to live, but Soam Meghwar, Mahesh and Ashok have made my life miserable”.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Badin Hassan Sardar Niazi came across the case through social media and met with the victim’s family members, guaranteeing them justice. Station House Officer (SHO) Tando Ghulam Ali Riaz Rind was directed to file a First Information Report (FIR) against those named in the suicide note and immediately arrest them.
Dr. Lakhan Parmar, the father of the victim, mentioned in the complaint that Soam, Ashok and Mahesh blackmailed his daughter through doctored images. They are also said to have extorted Rs50,000 from the deceased on a monthly basis.
