The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) have failed to reach consensus on the seat adjustment formula; therefore, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will now have a clear ground in Sindh.

While speaking at a program on Naya Daur TV, senior analyst Muzamal Suharwardy said that the PML-N had a desire to contest elections from Baldia in Karachi, but the MQM-P wants its leader, Mustafa Kamal, to contest polls from there.

The MQM-P was offering seat adjustments to the PML-N in two constituencies, i.e., Malir and Lyari, he said.

While responding to a question about allegations raised by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shaukat Basra that his nomination papers were snatched and his lawyer was also manhandled, the analyst said that it might be true, but what benefit would the state acquire by doing so?

“No one even snatched the nomination papers of PTI leader Sanam Javed, who announced to contest elections against PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz,” Suharwardy stressed.

The analyst said that it is a sheer injustice that the May 9 accused are allowed to contest elections. “It is a big question mark on the justice system,” he added.

Suharwardy said that several political parties have concerns over the conduct of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) in providing facilitation to the PTI, adding that the chief justice of the PHC should take notice of the situation.

While responding to another question, the analyst said that Imran Khan is planning to contest elections in Mianwali, Peshawar, and Islamabad, adding that Imran Khan is just trying to damage the democratic system as he knows very well that he is ineligible to contest polls.
