Shahzain Bugti Appointed SAPM As Govt Expedites Efforts To Talk To ‘Angry Baloch’
Prime Minister Imran Khan has appointed Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) chief Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti as his Special Assistant (SAPM) in an apparent bid to expedite efforts to initiate a dialogue with Baloch insurgents. The prime minister had expressed the desire to hold negotiations with the ‘angry’ Baloch earlier this week.
Shahzain Bugti is a member of the lower house of the Parliament and represents NA-259, Dera Bugti-cum-Kohlu-cum-Barkhan-cum-Sibbi-cum-Lehri. The Cabinet Division has issued a notification formalising his appointment as the SAPM on Reconciliation and Harmony in Balochistan.
Earlier on Monday, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that that he was thinking of holding a dialogue with the ‘insurgents’ in Balochistan, adding that the insurgency in the province would not have been a cause for concern if its development was taken seriously.
He had expressed these views while speaking to a gathering of local elders and businessmen in Gwadar during a one-day visit to the city.
