Fourth Wave Of Covid About To Begin In Pakistan, Warns Minister

Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar has said that a fourth wave of Covid-19 is likely to begin in Pakistan. Taking to Twitter, the minister said, “Two weeks ago, I had tweeted that our artificial intelligence models are showing the possible emergence of a fourth wave. Now there are clear early signs of a fourth wave starting.”

He added that Delta variant that was first found in India and poor compliance of the coronavirus SOPs are the reasons for the looming wave of the deadly virus.

Further, Umar said that it had been found that people attending indoor weddings and going to indoor hotels and gyms are throwing caution to the wind by showing disregard for the vaccination requirement.

“If the owners of these facilities do not show responsibility and ensure compliance, there will be no choice but to shut them down,” he wrote.

Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Imran has expressed similar concerns in a video message, saying that Delta variant was the ‘biggest concern’.
