As the 13th presidential election in Iran approaches, Iranians living in various cities of Pakistan are preparing to participate in the election to play a role in the fate of their country.
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Islamabad and the consulates general in four provincial capitals are also gearing up for the election to be held on June 18.
The ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Islamabad will also chair the Executive Board of Elections in the federal capital. Overall five polling stations would be established in different cities in Pakistan for the presidential election at the Iranian embassy in Islamabad and four consulates in the cities of Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Quetta.
Iranians living in the Pakistani capital are eligible to vote in this election period. The minimum voting age is 18 years, and Iranians who do not have a birth certificate or national identity card can use a valid passport to vote.
The cities of Karachi and Lahore, as compared to other cities in Pakistan, have the largest population of Iranians, most of whom are students or businessmen or economic activists.
Iran's 13th presidential election will be held simultaneously with the sixth round of municipal council elections for the cities and villages, the first mid-term for the 11th round of parliamentary by-election, and the second mid-term for the fifth round of the Assembly of Experts election.
Seyyed Amirhossein Qazizadeh Hashemi, Alireza Zakani, Mohsen Mehralizadeh, Abdolnnaser Hemmati, Mohsen Rezaei Mirqaed, Saeed Jalili, and Ebrahim Raisi are competing in the elections.
