Former Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader and cleric Mufti Aziz-ur-Rehman, who was arrested for sexually abusing a student at his seminary, has confessed to the crime.
He issued a confessional statement to the police in which he accepted that the viral video showing him molesting a student is real, adding that he is 'embarrassed' over it.
He further said that he was not aware that the student had filmed the occurrence. "I told him not to spread the video when I found out about it," he added. The cleric further told the police that his sons threatened the student when they came to know about the video.
70-year-old Azizur Rehman was arrested on Sunday from Minawali days after he was booked for sexually assaulting his student at the madrassah where he taught. The survivor had made a video of himself being sexually abused by the cleric to draw attention towards the grave matter.
