2 Clerics Awarded Death Sentence For Kidnapping, Murdering 15-Year-Old Boy
Two clerics accused of murdering a 15-year-old boy after kidnapping him for ransom in 2015 were found guilty and awarded death sentence 'twice' by an antiterrorism court in Karachi.

The court ruled that Qari Ahsan Ali and Qari Abdul Majeed were guilty of kidnapping 15-year-old Abdul Moiz for ransom, and taking his life. They had also dumped the slain boy's body parts in different areas of Brigade police station in June 2016.

The ATC-XX judge Monday issued the judgement that he had reserved after hearing final arguments from both parties. The judge remarked that the prosecution was able to prove the allegations against the suspects beyond a shadow of a doubt.

He also said that he was of the 'considerate view' that the murderers do not deserve any leniency because of the ruthless manner in which the acted while committing the crime.

They court awarded them death sentence each on the counts of kidnapping for ransom, murder and terrorism. Moreover, they were asked to pay a Rs1 million fine or face 10-year imprisonment on default. Following issuance of the verdict, both the convicts who were present on the premises of the court, were immediately shifted to prison.

The ATC decision however is yet to be confirmed or otherwise from the Sindh High COurt (SHC).
