Youm-e-Ali Processions Banned Across Country Due To Covid Surge
The federal government has announced that Youm-e-Ali processions will not be allowed to take place this year as Covid cases continue to surge in the country. Majalis will be allowed under strict Covid SOPs which are already being enforced for Ramzan.
The decision was made by National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) in a session held on Saturday. Chaired by Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar, the session was attended by Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid, Minister for Religious Affairs Noorul Haq Qadri and Special Assistant to the PM on Health Dr Faisal Sultan.

“Keeping in view the risk factor due to the ongoing surge in COVID spread across the country and particularly in major urban centres, it was decided to ban all sort of processions while holding of Majalis has been permitted under strict COVID SOPs which are already in place for Ramazan ul Mubarik,” an NCOC statement said.
