Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid has announced that 1,100 Pakistani national imprisoned in Saudi Arabia's jails will return to Pakistan soon after negotiation between Pakistan and Saudi authorities during Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit to the country.
The minister further said that Pakistanis serving jail time for serious crimes in Saudi Arabia will also be returned.
He expressed these views while talking to a private news channel. Rashid added that these prisoners have already served jail time. He said that the process required to secure their release has been completed.
The minister however said that 30 Pakistanis are imprisoned for murder and drug offences and cannot be released.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Sunday termed the Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit to Saudi Arabia as very significant in the perspective of developments taking place in the region particularly Afghan peace process and security situation in South Asia.
Radio Pakistan reported an interview of Qureshi with Saudi TV channel where he said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy time tested strategic ties based on trust and confidence. Responding to question he said newly established Saudi-Pakistan Supreme Coordination Council will provide the opportunity for both the countries to further strengthen their economic and security cooperation in institutionalized manner.
