Keep Establishment Out Of Electoral Reforms Process, Bilawal Tells PML-N
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has criticised Pakistan Muslim League - N (PML-N) for demanding army's involvement in the Karachi NA-249 by-election. The PML-N had urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to place NA-249 ballots in the military's custody.

Addressing the media on Monday, Bilawal said that electoral reforms were important to end rigging, but the target should be to keep the establishment away from the electoral process. The PPP chairman added that transparent elections would not be possible as long as the establishment remains involved in the process.

Further, Bilawal Bhutto said that his party wholeheartedly supported the election reforms and had already made recommendations in this regard in 2018. He urged the ECP to play its role to curb election rigging. When asked whether he would respond to the government's offer to join hands for electoral reforms process, he said that the government's position cannot be taken seriously. "Those who have been responsible for rigging can do nothing to stop it," the PPP chairman said.
