Javed Hashmi Presents Himself For Arrest As Residence Surrounded By Police For Demolition
Pakistan Muslim League - N (PML-N) leader Javed Hashmi's native house in a village in Multan has reportedly been surrounded by authorities who plan to demolish it. Hashmi alleged that his daughter Maimoona Hashmi's house and a school that she owns were demolished this morning, and the police have now surrounded his house.

In a video message posted on Twitter, the PML-N leader said that the action is being taken on the pretext of Auqaf Department that accuses him of occupying their land. He denied the allegation and said that he presented himself for arrest.

Last week, the PML-N had distanced itself from senior party leader Javed Hashmi’s statement against the military establishment. In a statement, the party said that Hashmi’s views about the institution (army) were expressed in his personal capacity.

“PML-N believes in supremacy of the constitution and hopes to see all institutions working within their constitutional domain to strengthen the country,” the party had said.

The statement came after Javed Hashmi had released a video on social media wherein he spoke about the alleged corruption of army personnel and said that they are not held accountable. He had also criticised Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s visit to Saudi Arabia.
