FM Qureshi Confirms ISI, RAW Chiefs Have Been Meeting In UK And Dubai
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has admitted that secret talks between Pakistan and India were held over the past two years, but he refused to call them ‘backchannel’. Qureshi also confirmed the meetings between DG ISI General Faiz Hameed and RAW chief Samant Goel, saying that such dialogues prove useful to clear the false impression that institutions in Pakistan are not on the same page.
“India needed to be reminded that all institutions in Pakistan are on the same page and there is no civil-military disconnect,” the FM said during an interview with anchor Nadeem Malik on Samaa TV.
He however added that he would not refer to the meetings as ‘backchannel’. When asked what he would call these interactions, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that these talks were held so both sides could apprise each other of the ‘situation’.
FM Qureshi finally admits “backchannel” with India (but refuses to call it that) past 2 years via Gen Faiz, DG ISI, & (either) RAW head Samant or NSA Doval. This was done to give India confidence that all institutions in Pakistan were on the same page! Unbelievable justification. pic.twitter.com/Nt7yzLRplk
