Cabinet Overrules New Finance Minister, Defers Decision To Allow Imports From India
The federal cabinet has decided to defer the Economic Coordination Committee's (ECC) decision taken under the chairmanship of newly-appointed Finance Minister Hammad Azhar allowing the import of sugar, cotton and cotton yarn from India through land and sea routes.

It has been decided that the decision would be deferred until India reinstates Occupied Kashmir's special status that was scrapped after revocation of Article 370 of the Constitution in the occupied valley. Following the revocation of Article 370 on 2019, Pakistan had halted all bilateral trade with India.

Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari tweeted that the cabinet has said "NO to trade with India".
