Will Hold Senate Polls 'As Per Practice,' Announces ECP After SC Ruling
Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced that the Senate elections to be held tomorrow would be "conducted as provided in the Constitution and law as per past practice".

The ECP issued a statement and clarified that the decision was taken due to 'time constraints'. The ECP met under the chairmanshop of Chief Election Commissioner Sikander Sultan Raja. Also present at the meeting were retired justice Altaf Ibrahim Qureshi, retired Justice Irshad Qaiser, Shah Mohammad Jatoi and Nisar Ahmed Durrani.
A committee has been formed by the ECP to discuss the use of technology recommended by the apex court in its judgement, directing the body to submit its input within four days.

The meeting took place on Monday following the SC opinion on the presidential reference against voting through secret ballot in the Senate elections. Further, attendees of the meeting vowed to implement the SC's ruling 'in letter and spirit'. In its judgement, the top court had remarked that the ECP was responsible for ensuring that the polls are conducted fairly.
