Two Prime Accused In Motorway Gang Rape Case Sentenced To Death
The prime accused and co-accused in the motorway gang rape case have been awarded the death sentence by an Anti-terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore. ATC Judge Arshad Hussain Bhutta delivered his verdict at the Camp Jail.

Abid Malhi and Shafqat Ali were given death sentences after prosecutors established their case. They were also fined Rs. 200,000 each and sentenced to life terms in prison.

On the 9th of September 2021, the prime accused raped a woman while holding her at gunpoint, as she was stranded on the motorway, with her vehicle having run out of fuel.

After she called her relatives for help, they found her with blood stains on her clothes and in a state of severe trauma. The brutal crime had been committed in the presence of her children. The windowpanes of her vehicle were smashed.

In his verdict, the judge wrote:
“The offence of rape is heinous offence and when it is committed in the eye sight of children of the victim, heinousness further magnified and which is shocking for general public as well so such accused persons should be dealt with iron hand.”
