PTI Says SC Ruling On Secret Balloting For Senate Polls 'Victory For Pakistan'
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Faisal Javed expressed his satisfaction over the Supreme Court (SC) ruling that polling for the Senate elections cannot be held through an open ballot. Terming it a 'victory for Pakistan', the PTI leader said that it was a strong move by the apex court.

Supreme Court on Monday ruled that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has the power to ensure transparency during the elections.

“It is the responsibility of the Election Commission to end corrupt practices from the electoral process and it can utilise the technology in this regard," the order read.

Senator Faisal Javed while talking to media after the apex court’s ruling remarked that the court had listened to all the parties and the attorney-general gave strong arguments in the court. He called the ruling a victory for Pakistan and said that for the first time “people will know what happens in the Senate.”

He went on to say Prime Minister Imran Khan wants the elections to be held peacefully and without any corruption whereas the oppositions wants the opposite.

“Imran Khan came into politics to eradicate corruption and today's decision is his victory because he doesn't want to build any palaces or set up factories,” Senator Javed said.

He added that the work has to be done by the Parliament however , Supreme Courts opinion on transparency of elections is a strong one and commendable.
