Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Shehryar Afridi’s vote went to waste as he mistakenly signed the issued ballot paper. The residing officer refused to issue another ballot to him when he demanded he be compensated for the error.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has reprimanded the federal minister for not knowing how to cast a vote. “We told everyone how to cast vote. You are an MNA, how can you not know the procedure of vote casting,” the premier reportedly told him.

Shehryar Afridi said that he had asked for guidance by the Election Commission of Pakistan’s officers however, he received no help and ended up signing the ballot.

The Islamabad seat is being considered a tough competition between the PTI candidate Hafeez Sheikh and the Opposition nominated candidate and former prime minister, Yousaf Raza Gilani.
