NA Speaker Yet To Receive Faisal Vawda’s Resignation As MNA

NA Speaker Yet To Receive Faisal Vawda’s Resignation As MNA
Confusion ensues as National Assembly Speaker’s office has not received Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda's resignation from his assembly membership after he told Islamabad High Court (IHC) that he had given up his seat.

Geo News reported that he had told about his ‘resignation’ to the IHC soon after he cast his vote in the lower house of the Parliament. He was the second MNA to cast his vote in the Senate elections being held today.

Faisal Vawda is involved in a disqualification case for holding dual nationality. His lawyer says that since he’s given his resignation, the petition against him is no longer maintainable.

The resignation was presented before the court and the court reserved its verdict in the disqualification of the minister.

However the National Assembly office claims to not have received the resignation yet. Officials have said that for a resignation to be approved it has to be sent to the NA speaker. Since the resignation has not reached the office, there is no way it was confirmed.

“When the resignation was not received, then how can it be approved?” said the officials.
