Military Leadership Should Not Be Seen With PM Imran After Senate Defeat, Says Maryam
PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz said that the military leadership "should not have been seen" with Prime Minister Imran Khan after PTI's defeat in the Senate election, that she termed 'battering'.

She accused the premier of dragging military into politics even though the military institutions have time and again asked politicians not to do so.

A day after the Senate elections, Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa met with Imran Khan at Prime Minister House. Lt Gen Faiz Hameed, Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence, was also present at the meeting.

However, no press statement was released, which usually is the case when such interactions take place. But people were quick to connect the dotes and assumed that the meeting must’ve taken place to discuss the Senate Elections and its results.

Referring to the meeting, Maryam Nawaz while talking to the press today said that PM Imran Khan had dragged military institutions into politics.

She said,”Is he not dragging the institutions into politics?"

She also said that instead of telling the public not to drag them into politics, the military should tell this to PM Imran. "I think instead of saying this to the public, he should tell Prime Minister Imran Khan that 'you have lost, been humiliated, failed, and lost the trust of the people [...] so kindly do not drag us into this politics.”

Maryam also addressed the military leadership and said, “You should not have been seen sitting with Imran Khan at any cost a day after he suffered a battering [and] faced the people's and public representatives' wrath, when he (Imran) was busy in machinations and rigging."
