As political parties contest for the 37 vacant seats in the upper house of the Parliament, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has expressed his utmost confidence in the ruling party’s candidates and is certain that the PTI will emerge victorious.
Taking to Twitter, the federal minister said that PTI will easily win the Senate Elections being conducted today.
“PTI will easily win today's Senate election in Islamabad. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh will get more than 180 votes, whereas, all the opposition parties will get about 155 votes altogether,” he had tweeted.
The candidate from PTI’s side is Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh and in opposition to him is the Opposition parties nominated former prime minister and senior PPP leader Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. Both of them are contesting for the Senate seat from Islamabad.
A total of 37 vacant seats are up for the Senate Elections. The polling stated at 9 AM and will go on till 5 PM.
