The Defence Housing Authority (DHA) has denied reports that it cut down mango trees in Multan to make way for a housing society, terming them ‘misleading and factually incorrect’.

DHA released a statement on Wednesday and claimed that it was not involved in decimation of mango orchards in Multan and said that a ‘malicious campaign’ was going on online. It further said that a private housing society founded this month localed on Shujahabad Road in Multan was behind the cutting down of trees. Further, the statement said that the DHA promotes environment-friendly initiatives.

Earlier, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Farhatullah Babar had expressed concern over the reports that mango orchards in Multan were destroyed to make way for DHA, calling for an inquiry into the reports.
