Ahmadi Worship Place attacked in Gujranwala | Forced Conversions of Hindus In Pakistan | Minorities
An Ahmadi worship place was attacked in Pakistan once again. The country’s Hindu community also faces several issues such as forced conversions. Raza Rumi and Wajahat Ahmad discuss the state of religious minorities in Pakistan.
A 13-year-old Hindu girl from Kandkhot area of Sindh was reportedly forcibly converted to Islam after being abducted. A viral video shows notorious cleric Mian Mithu purportedly converting the Hindu girl to Islam in public with several men surrounding her and recording the alleged conversion on their phones.
An FIR against the crime was registered, Naya Daur Media has learned. It has also been stated by local activists that the girl was married off to her abductor, as is often the case in forced conversions. However, further details of the case could not be immediately ascertained.
Mian Mithu, an extremist individual from Sindh, is a terrifying figure for Hindus of the province. The local Hindus accuse him of kidnapping and forced conversions of Hindu girls. Hindus of the area claim that Mithu provided protection to those who kidnap Hindu girls, who are often underage, and forcibly converts them to Islam before marrying them off to their kidnappers. The politico-religious figure is also famous for using his political power to influence legal processes in case families of kidnapped girls decide to go to court.
