PMLN Leader Ahsan Iqbal Accuses NA Speaker Of Silencing Opposition

PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal accused National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser of holding a bias against the opposition, during the session today.

The PMLN leader argued that in the last 2.5 years his party had not gotten its fair share of calling-attention notices and adjournment motions.

“The chair purposely ignores PML-N’s calling-attention notices and adjournment motions,” he challenged.

Responding to this, Speaker Asad Qaiser said that he accepts the challenge and has been fair. “I have done everything according to merit.”

When the Speaker added that he is the custodian of the house and does everything as per the law, members in the assembly chanted “No” resulting in yet another noisy session.

The National Assembly session today was held to discuss the constitutional amendment bill the government plans to seek a vote on. The bill seeks to end the involvement of money in the Senate elections by bringing a constitutional amendment.
