Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has demanded that the leadership of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) explain their MNA Maulana Salahuddin Ayubi's marriage to a 14 year-old-girl.
The minister maintained that the marriage between a minor and a man four times her age is not legal and is against Child Marriage Restraint Act.
The JUI-F leader in question, Maulana Salahuddin Ayubi is a member of National Assembly who had tied the knot with a minor in Chitral last week.
The minister went on to say that JUI-F should condemn the marriage.
He tweeted, “I hope all sane voices in NA will take notice of this absurd act by a member of National Assembly and will join voice to seek explanation.”
